On Wednesday, the Calgary Flames announced they have signed center Cole Schwindt and defenseman Ilya Solovyov to contract extensions.

Solovyov signed a two-year contract with an AAV of $775,000 through the 2025-26 season. He is coming off his entry-level contract that had an AAV of $828,333.

The Belarussian made his NHL debut on Oct. 26 of last season with the Flames, the team that drafted him in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL Draft. Solovynov ended up playing 10 games, registering three assists with a plus/minus of -3.

Solovynov came over to play in North America in 2021, starting off with the Flames’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Stockton Heat. When their primary affiliate moved up to Calgary, the former Saginaw Spirit blueliner had one of his best seasons, scoring 18 points in 68 games during the 2022-23 campaign. This past year, he notched five goals and 15 points in 51 games.

In 170 AHL appearances, Solovynov has scored 12 goals and 29 assists, with a +25 rating. He has scored four points in 21 Calder Cup Playoff games.

Schwindt has signed a one-year, two-way contract. The NHL portion of his deal carries an AAV of $800,000 through the 2024-25 season.

Schwindt is also coming off his three-year, entry-level contract, which had a $911,000 AAV. He signed the deal with the Florida Panthers, the team that took him in the third round, 81st overall, of the 2019 NHL Draft. He only spent two seasons with the organization before he, Jonathan Huberdeau and MacKenzie Weeger were traded to the Flames, with Matthew Tkachuk going the other way.

The Breslau, Ontario native made his NHL debut with the Cats in 2021-22, and played in four games with the Flames this past season. In 66 games with the Wranglers, Schwindt scored 14 goals and 22 assists, including five points in six playoff games.

Schwindt has played seven games in the NHL, but has yet to score a point.
