In the first period of their game, Curl was given a minor penalty for roughing after hitting Boston forard Theresa Schafzahl with her stick.
“Upon review of the incident, the Player Safety Committee determined that Curl-Salemme uses her stick to recklessly and dangerously make contact with Schafzahl in the neck and head, which is in violation of PWHL Rule 61 – High-sticking,” the league wrote in its statement.
In the second period, Babstock was given a minor penalty for cross-checking Curl.
“Upon review of the incident, the Player Safety Committee determined that Babstock displayed no intention of playing the puck, and recklessly and dangerously extended the shaft of her stick with both arms to strike Curl-Salemme in the neck and head, which is in violation of PWHL Rule 60 – Cross-checking,” the league wrote in its statement.
It is the first suspension of both Babstock and Curl’s PWHL careers.
The Frost won the game 4-3 in overtime, with Curl scoring the OT-winner, assisted by Kendall Coyne Schofield and Claire Thompson.
Curl has four goals and two assists for six points and eight penalty minutes in seven games this season. Meanwhile, their Thursday matchup was Babstock’s first game of the year.
The Frost are 3-2-1-1 with 14 points, first in the league. Meanwhile, the Fleet are 2-0-1-4 with seven points, tied for fifth with the Toronto Sceptres.
