Florida Panthers’ forward Sam Bennett has won the 2025 Conn Smythe Trophy as the Stanley Cup Playoff’s Most Valuable Player.

The 28-year-old Bennett led the playoffs with 15 goals, including five in the Stanley Cup Final. He finished the playoffs with another seven assists for 22 points and 48 penalty minutes.

Bennett has been a major playoff contributor in the last three seasons, scoring a combined 27 goals and 24 assists for 51 points in 62 games.

Bennett scored 25 goals and 26 assists for 51 points during the regular season, hitting the 20-goal mark for the third time in his career.

The Panthers won the Stanley Cup for the second consecutive season, doing so on home ice in Game 6 with a 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers. Florida was led by forward Sam Reinhart, who scored four goals in Game 6.

The Panthers have made three consecutive Stanley Cup Final appearances, first doing so in 2023, losing to the Vegas Golden Knights.

Last year, Oilers’ captain Connor McDavid won the Conn Smythe, despite Edmonton losing the Stanley Cup Final in seven games. McDavid had an historic and record-breaking playoff run for the Oilers, leading the entire league with 34 assists and 42 points in 25 postseason contests.

The Oilers captain did not emerge from his team’s dressing room to accept the trophy from National Hockey League commissioner Gary Bettman.
