A performance of the ages capped off an incredible run.

In the Florida Panthers’ 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final, capping off the team’s second straight championship, Panthers forward Sam Reinhart scored four goals, becoming the first player in NHL history to accomplish the feat since Hockey Hall of Famer Maurice “Rocket” Richard did so with the Montreal Canadiens against the Boston Bruins in the 1957 final.

Reinhart also became the first player to score seven goals in a final since Oilers legend Wayne Gretzky put up seven against the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1985 final.

Reinhart opened the scoring less than five minutes into the game, adding his second of the game in the second period. Then, he went on to score a pair of empty-net goals to put the game well out of reach.

Thanks to the great outing, the 29-year-old ended up with 11 goals and 23 points, tied for the team lead in points in the playoffs, finishing tied for second with Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl in goals among all skaters this postseason, only trailing Conn Smythe Trophy winner Sam Bennett, who scored 15 goals for the Panthers.

Reinhart’s production during these playoffs was a little bit better than the first time he lifted Lord Stanley, as he posted 16 points in 24 games last year. In 75 career postseason appearances, all with the Panthers, he has scored 28 goals and 24 assists for 52 points. Not bad for a guy who spent the first seven years of his NHL career meddling around with a terrible Buffalo Sabres team.

It certainly has been a memorable week for Reinhart. Along with winning the Cup on Tuesday night, Reinhart was named one of the first six players to Canada’s roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina.
