Panthers sign Jack Devine to entry-level contract

The Florida Panthers announced Saturday that the club has signed right winger Jack Devine to a three-year, entry-level contract set to begin in the upcoming 2025-26 campaign. Devine was originally chosen by the Panthers in the seventh round of the 2022 NHL Draft.

Through 44 appearances this season with the NCAA’s Denver Pioneers, Devine led the squad in scoring with 57 points counting 13 goals and 44 assists. For his efforts, Devine was named to the NCHC’s First All-Star Team and for the second consecutive year was named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, presented annually to the top college hockey player.

“Jack is an agile skater with high-end offensive talent who has excelled throughout his collegiate hockey career over the past four seasons with the University of Denver,” Panthers general manager Bill Zito said in a statement. “We are thrilled for Jack to join the organization.”

In all, through four seasons with the Pioneers, Devine totaled 57 goals and 106 assists for 163 points in 162 career contests. Prior to committing to Denver, Devine also spent part of two seasons with the U.S. National Development Program where through 42 total appearances he collected seven goals and 27 assists for 34 points.

A 21-year-old native of Glencoe, Ill., Devine has also joined the United States in international competition including the 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge where through six games he scored once and added four assists for five points en route to a silver medal finish. Devine also represented the American squad at the 2021 IIHF Under-18 World Championship where he notched one assist, four penalty minutes, and a plus-one rating in five outings.

For the Panthers, on the season the defending Stanley Cup champions sit 46-29-4 and four points back of the Toronto Maple Leafs for top spot in the Atlantic Division.
