Florida Panthers to hold Stanley Cup parade on June 30
For the first time in their franchise history, the Florida Panthers are Stanley Cup champions. Florida held on for a tight 2-1 win in Game 7 on Monday to defeat the Edmonton Oilers and win the 2024 Stanley Cup.
And to celebrate, the club is holding its Stanley Cup parade in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, June 30. While teams usually like to hold their parade celebration closer to their championship game, the NHL schedule has made that quite difficult.
Unlike the Boston Celtics in the NBA, who also won on a Monday but held the parade on Friday of the same week, the Panthers parade is being delayed until Sunday in order to allow the Florida management team to take part following the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. The Draft takes place on Friday, June 28, and runs through Saturday, June 29 from the Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Stanley Cup parade will begin at 11 a.m. ET and will run along state road A1A. It will start at Riomar Street and conclude just North of Fort Lauderdale Beach Park, where the rally and speeches will take place on stage.
Ahead of the Final, it was believed that if the series went to seven games, the Stanley Cup-winning management would be unable to attend the championship parade. Instead, we will see a truly wild final week of the 2023-24 NHL season.
The events include the Panthers winning the Stanley Cup on Monday, the NHL Awards on Thursday, June 27, the NHL Draft on Friday and Saturday, the championship parade in Florida on Sunday and finally, the first day of free agency kicking off on Monday, July 1. What a way to go out and head toward the 2024-25 season.
Keep your eyes on social media on Sunday, these Stanley Cup parades are usually very entertaining.
