Flyers’ Sam Ersson expected to replace Devils’ Jacob Markstrom on Sweden’s 4 Nations Face-Off roster
Philadelphia Flyers’ goaltender Sam Ersson is expected to replace New Jersey Devils’ netminder Jacob Markstrom on Sweden’s 4 Nations Face-Off roster, according to Aftonbladet reporter Per Bjurman. The news was confirmed by Daily Faceoff hockey insider Frank Seravalli.
As @BjurmanPer reported yesterday, #Flyers Sam Ersson is expected to replace #njdevils Jacob Markstrom on Sweden’s 4Nations Face-Off roster.
Amazingly, more than seven weeks after the rosters were named, Markstrom is the first player needing replacement in the tournament.

As Seravalli mentioned, more than seven weeks after the 4 Nations Face-Off rosters were announced, Markstrom will likely be the first player who needs to be replaced in the tournament.
Ersson, 25, is in his second full NHL season, posting a 14-8-2 record with an .891 SV% and 2.80 GAA in 26 appearances with the Flyers. In 89 career games, Ersson has a 43-30-9 record with a 2.85 GAA and .892 SV%.
He’s expected to join the Ottawa Senators’ Linus Ullmark and the Minnesota Wild’s Filip Gustavsson, who were named to the roster earlier this season.
The Devils announced Friday that Markstrom would be out of the lineup for the next four-to-six weeks after suffering a knee sprain. The 34-year-old left Wednesday’s game against the Boston Bruins in the second period after forward Justin Brazeau crashed into the crease, with Markstrom laying on the ice in pain.
