Flyers’ Scott Laughton fined $5,000 for cross-check on Islanders’ Maxim Tsyplakov
The National Hockey League’s Player Safety department announced Friday that Philadelphia Flyers’ forward Scott Laughton has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), for a cross-check delivered on New York Islanders’ Maxim Tsyplakov.

The incident occurred during the Flyers’ 5-3 win over the Islanders Thursday night on Long Island.
The incident stemmed from a play earlier in the game when Tsyplakov delivered a high hit on Flyers’ Ryan Poehling. The Philadelphia forward would end up leaving the game.

The league announced Friday that Tsyplakov will have a hearing for the hit.

Laughton has nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points and 14 penalty minutes in 46 games with the Flyers this season. Now in his 12th NHL season, the 30-year-old Laughton has 104 goals and 157 assists for 261 points in 647 career regular-season games.
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old Tsyplakov is in his first NHL season, with seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points and 26 penalty minutes in 44 games.
The Flyers are 20-20-6 with 46 points in 46 games, fifth in the Metropolitan Division and three points back of a Wild Card spot. As for the Islanders, the team is 17-20-7 with 41 points, last in the Metropolitan and 14 points back of a playoff spot.
