Philadelphia Flyers’ forward Scott Laughton had a game for the ages Thursday night, scoring four goals and leading his team to a 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

Laughton’s offense started after the midway point of the second period when the 30-year-old found himself on a breakaway, then fired an unusual slap shot past Red Wings’ goalie Cam Talbot to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead.

Just a minute into the third period, with his team killing a penalty, Laughton took a Travis Konecny pass on an odd-man rush and tapped it in, giving him his second of the game and his 100th career NHL goal.

Laughton would bury two more empty net goals to give himself four on the evening, helping Philadelphia win 4-1. Laughton, the team’s first-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, now has seven goals and seven assists on the season for 14 points on the season. He is now fourth on the team in goals and sixth on the team in points.

On Friday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss Thursday night’s standout performances, and where Laughton’s four-goal night ranks among them.

Frank Seravalli: Scott Laughton and his four-goal night, he had a breakaway clapper which was old school, then picks up another then gets two empty netters. The first four-goal night by any Flyer since 2002, but he’s the first-ever Flyer to do it when he scores all four of his teams goals in a 4-1 win over the Red Wings.
