Former AHL coach Clark Donatelli has been indicted by a Rhode Island grand jury on four counts of sexual assault, according to Katie Strang of The Athletic.

The charges stem from a November 2018 incident involving Erin Skalde, who is married to Donatelli’s former assistant coach with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Jarrod Skalde.

Erin Skalde filed a report with Providence police back in February, saying that Donatelli forcefully grabbed her breast and shoved his hand down the front of her pants while Skalde, her husband, and Donatelli went out together after a Penguins road game against the Providence Bruins.

Donatelli has been released on his own recognizance on a $10,000 bond. He must abide by a no-contact order which prohibits him from having any contact with Erin Skalde. Donatelli is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing in December.

Erin and Jarrod Skalde also reached a settlement with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization last week.

Back in November of 2020, Jarrod Skalde filed a lawsuit against the Penguins in U.S. District Court in Pennsylvania alleging that Donatelli had assaulted his wife. The lawsuit also accuses Bill Guerin, the former Penguins assistant general manager and current Minnesota Wild general manager, of telling Jarrod Skalde to keep quiet about the allegation.

Romanucci & Blandin, the law firm representing Erin Skalde, said last week that the legal matter “has come to satisfactory conclusion for all parties involved.”

The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

Donatelli resigned from his position with the Penguins following the 2018-19 season. Most recently, he was coaching professional hockey in Germany, but the team removed him as head coach on September 24 and has since severed all ties with him.

Guerin is currently being investigated by the U.S. Center for SafeSport.
