Gavin McKenna is becoming a prospect to keep an eye on

Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk ended today’s Daily Faceoff Live show with a little bit of Garbage Time, with Frank talking about Gavin McKenna, a 2026 draft-eligible prospect who is on fire at the Canada Winter Games for Team Yukon, and may be on his way to becoming the best player from the Canadian territory of Yukon.

Frank Seravalli: You need to know the name Gavin McKenna. This guy has been an absolute star, given exceptional status with the WHL, selected first overall by the the Medicine Hat Tigers. He’s already pumped in eight points in 11 games with the Tigers this season, and is a 2026 draft eligible prospect. Also happens to be the cousin of Connor Bedard, who’s expected to go first overall in the NHL this season.

And the reason I bring him up, is he’s absolutely tearing up the Canada Winter Games for Team Yukon, where he wears the ‘C’ as their captain. 17 points in two games. Yes, that’s not a misprint, that’s not a typo, or me saying the wrong thing. 17 points, eight goals, nine assists, in two games. Some unbelievable numbers that Mr. McKenna is putting up for Team Yukon.

Keep an eye on him, 2026. It feels like we’ll be in flying cars by then for a guy that’s born in 2007, but remember the name Gavin McKenna. So check that out if you get a chance to watch some video on him. This guy’s coming, he’s the real deal, and the next one from Yukon.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Yeah, I was just looking at his numbers with his U18 prep team so far this season. 36 goals, 37 assists, 73 points, and he only played 25 games. I think those numbers are pretty good, and another exciting prospect to keep an eye on in the hockey world.
