Golden Knights’ Ben Hutton placed on long-term injured reserve; Mark Stone moved to IR
The Vegas Golden Knights announced that defenseman Ben Hutton has been placed on long-term injured reserve and that captain Mark Stone has been moved to injured reserve.
VGK announced they have placed Mark Stone on IR and Ben Hutton on LTIR.
This essentially rules Stone out for tomorrow night's game but he is eligible to be removed from IR at any point.
Hutton going on LTIR rules him out until at least December 12th.
Hutton was injured in Sunday’s 5-2 loss to the Washington Capitals. Hutton has posted six shots on goal, five blocked shots and three hits in five games this season. With Hutton on LTIR, he won’t be eligible to play until at least Dec. 12 against the Winnipeg Jets.
Last season, Vegas signed Hutton to a two-year contract extension through 2025-26 worth $975,000 per year.
The 31-year-old defenseman is in his third season with the Golden Knights, scoring one goal and seven assists for eight points through 28 games in 2023-24. Hutton is averaging 16:13 of ice time this season. Hutton won a Stanley Cup with the Golden Knights in 2022-23.
Meanwhile, Stone has racked up six goals and 15 assists for 21 points in 13 games this season.
On Nov. 8 the Golden Knights announced that Stone would be day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Stone has been forced to miss significant time over the past few seasons due to injury problems. Stone played 56 games in 2023-24, the most he’s appeared in one season since the COVID-shortened 2019-20 campaign.
Vegas is currently sitting first in the Pacific Division with an 11-5-2 record and 24 points through 18 games. The Golden Knights are slated to face off against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday, the Ottawa Senators on Thursday and the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.
