Golden Knights sign Tanner Pearson to one-year, $775,000 contract

The Vegas Golden Knights announced Friday that the team signed forward Tanner Pearson to a one-year contract worth $775,000. Pearson had played with the club through the preseason on a professional tryout (PTO).

The 32-year-old Pearson played four of the Golden Knights’ preseason games, scoring two goals and an assist.

Pearson had spent the 2023-24 season with the Montreal Canadiens, scoring five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 54 regular-season games. In 11 NHL seasons, Pearson has scored 138 goals, 147 assists and 285 points and in 644 regular-season games with the Canadiens, Vancouver Canucks, Pittsburgh Penguins and Los Angeles Kings.

Pearson has two 20-goal seasons and two 40-point campaigns, once with the Kings in 2016-17 and the Canucks in 2019-20. He has also posted five 20-assist campaigns between Los Angeles and Vancouver.

Pearson has also appeared in 51 Stanley Cup Playoff games, scoring nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points. He won a Stanley Cup with the Kings in 2014, scoring four goals and eight assists for 12 points in 24 playoff games.

Pearson was taken No. 30 overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Kings after scoring 37 goals and 54 assists for 91 points in 60 games with the Ontario Hockey League’s Barrie Colts. In his first professional season with the Kings’ AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs, he scored 19 goals and 28 assists for 47 points in 64 regular-season games.

Internationally, Pearson represented Canada at the 2012 World Junior Championships, helping them earn a bronze medal.

The Golden Knights went 45-29-8 with 98 points last season, clinching the second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. They were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Dallas Stars.
