The Buffalo Sabres have started the 2024-25 season with three straight losses. For a team with lofty expectations to get back into the Stanley Cup Playoff picture, it’s a less than ideal start.

The Sabres opened up the new campaign with back-to-back games at the NHL’s Global Series in Czechia, against the New Jersey Devils. They left Czechia with zero points and made their way back to Buffalo for their home opener Thursday night, against the Los Angeles Kings. The Sabres lost 3-1 to the Kings, after surrendering the lead, giving up three goals in the final frame.

On Friday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and Frank Seravalli were asked about the temperature in Buffalo and if Sabres fans should be worried about the panic button already being in site.

Yaremchuk: Moving along to our Daily Faceoff inbox question, #AskDFO, this one from Natty – do you think it’s already time to panic in Buffalo after just three games? They were up 1-0, lost 3-1 to the Kings.

Seravalli: I know, it doesn’t feel good, and morale victories three games into the season – that’s not it. But, I’m still a believer in Buffalo. I picked them to make the playoffs, I’m not running away from that yet. Obviously they need to score more. Three goals in three games is not going to cut it.

But, it’s one of those things, you know you need to get off to a great start, you’re already squeezing it. It’s a tough spot for the Sabres to be in right now. I’m still ultimately bullish on their back end in Buffalo, that’s going to be the difference maker for this team. That’s the backbone. I think they’re going to find a way to get out of it. It’s a long year, just got to stay in the mix until you get to (USA) Thanksgiving.
