Things are not looking good in the hockey mecca of the universe.

Following another blown lead on Sunday night, many are wondering what needs to change for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Leafs dropped a 4-2 decision to the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday, even though the Red Wings arrived at Scotiabank Arena just 90 minutes before puck drop. Toronto also blew a two-goal lead to the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday, giving up five unanswered goals on their way to a 6-3 defeat.

While the Leafs are in still in playoff contention, and their big guns like Auston Matthews and Morgan Rielly are contributing, the team as a whole has not been able to put it together since going 3-0 in California.

The recurring trend is the team blowing leads, something they also did in the 4-3 overtime loss to the New York Islanders last Thursday.

Toronto (21-12-8) is third in the Atlantic Division, nine point back of the first-place Boston Bruins, but just one ahead of the Detroit Red Wings and Tampa Bay Lightning, only two points from being out of a playoff spot.

On Monday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Nick Alberga joined the show to discuss what is going on in Leafland.

Nick Alberga: It’s Groundhog Day. It’s the same old s–, they’re going to finish with 100-plus points, they’re make the playoffs. It’s like they’ll play when they want to play. I think they’re going to get [head coach Sheldon] Keefe fired. It probably will happen after the season. That’s how we’re feeling in Leafs Nation.

Colby Cohen: Sheldon Keefe’s press conference after the Colorado game, where he singled out William Nylander four times…Is he taking a shot at the general manager, and the contract he just awarded [Nylander]?
