On Monday, the New York Islanders reaffirmed that defenseman Alexander Romanov is listed as day-to-day, confirming he is suffering from an upper-body injury.

Romanov was absent from the team’s lineup this past Saturday, which saw the Islanders outlast the Utah Hockey Club 2-1, giving the team on Long Island wins in each of their past three games.

It isn’t clear what is exactly ailing the 25-year-old. He posted two assists in almost 21 minutes of ice time last Thursday when the Isles stunned the Vegas Golden Knights with a 4-0 victory.

Romanov had issues with another upper-body injury in November, missing 10 out of 11 games. The Russian blueliner has appeared in 30 of the Islanders’ 42 games thus far, registering nine assists and a plus/minus of +2, averaging 21:45 of ice time.

It has also been reported that defenseman Isaiah George is going to be a game-time decision for when the Islanders take on the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night. When speaking to the media, head coach Patrick Roy stated that he isn’t sure if George will be in the lineup but admitted that the rookie looked good since returning to practice.

George has been in and out of the lineup during his freshman campaign due to being a healthy scratch. However, an upper-body injury has kept him out of game action since Jan. 2. The 20-year-old has been a solid secondary asset on the back end for New York through stretches this year. He has scored a goal and four assists for five points in 25 games, with an even plus/minus while playing a little under 17 minutes per game.

The Islanders (17-18-7) are tied for last in the Metropolitan Division with the Philadelphia Flyers, both teams five points back of the Columbus Blue Jackets for the last Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
