The New York Islanders announced Thursday that forward Anthony Duclair will be out for 4-to-6 weeks with a lower-body injury.

Duclair was injured this past Saturday in a game against the Montreal Canadiens. When rushing the puck into the offensive zone, the 29-year-old looked to have lost his balance, with his right foot hitting a rut in the ice. Duclair went down and had to be helped off the ice.

Through five games with the Islanders, Duclair had two goals and an assist for three points, averaging 16:30 of ice time. He joined the Islanders in the offseason, signing a four-year, $14 million contract. The deal carries a cap hit of $3.5 million through the 2027-28 campaign.

Last season, Duclair scored 24 goals and 42 points in 73 games, splitting time between the San Jose Sharks and Tampa Bay Lightning.

In 568 career games, Duclair has scored 148 goals and 158 assists for 306 points with the Islanders, Sharks, Lightning, Florida Panthers, Ottawa Senators, Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks and Arizona Coyotes.

He has also registered 16 points in 39 Stanley Cup Playoff appearances, most notably scoring four goals and seven assists for 11 points in 20 games during the Panthers’ 2023 Stanley Cup Final run.

Taken by the Rangers in the third round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Duclair was an offensive phenom in junior. Through four seasons with the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League’s Quebec Remparts, Duclair had 116 goals and 133 assists for 249 points in 203 regular-season games, including a 2013-14 campaign with 50 goals and 49 assists for 99 points.

Before becoming a full-time NHLer, Duclair represented Canada at the 2015 World Junior Championship, scoring four goals and four assists for eight points and helping Canada win gold.
