Jack Eichel and the Golden Knights take the Stanley Cup clubbing in Vegas
What a whirlwind it’s been for Jack Eichel. By the seven-year mark of his NHL career, he was working his way back from disc replacement surgery in his neck and still waiting to play his first playoff game.
Fast forward to June 13, 2023 and Eichel is now 4-0 in playoff series after his Golden Knights crusaded to their first Stanley Cup title in franchise history. While Jonathan Marchessault’s goal-scoring prowess brought him home the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP, Eichel played an integral part in Vegas’ run as their top-line center. His 11 primary assists at 5-on-5 led all players this postseason. He compiled a league-high 26 points in 22 games, including a three-assist effort to close out the Knights’ 9-3 Cup-clinching victory over the Florida Panthers Tuesday.
Later in the night as the Golden Knights embarked on their championship celebration, it was time for the Cup to go clubbin’. A video posted from B/R Open Ice showed Eichel taking the stage at a Vegas nightclub with some of his teammates, hoisting the Stanley Cup in front of the patrons, who may or may not have understood who he was or what he was holding.

Regardless, it was a uniquely ‘Sin City’ way to cap off a historic night for the franchise, which fulfilled owner Bill Foley’s six-year promise by taking home a championship in their sixth season of existence.
The Golden Knights lost only six of their 22 games in the postseason. They trailed in a series just once: after losing Game 1 of the first round to the Winnipeg Jets. They never faced elimination at any point in the playoffs. Their championship roster included six players carried over from the initial 2017 expansion draft roster: Marchessault, Reilly Smith, William Karlsson, Shea Theodore, Brayden McNabb and William Carrier.
