Bottom-six forwards Mattias Janmark and Connor Brown each had solid contributions for the Edmonton Oilers throughout their 2024 run to the Stanley Cup Final. Janmark scored the Oilers’ only goal in Game 7 and finished the playoffs with four goals and eight points.

OilersNation writer and producer Tyler Yaremchuk joined the show to discuss why Edmonton should look at bringing back both Janmark and Brown for the 2024-25 season.

Colby Cohen: Who was a guy on the Oilers roster that changed your opinion of him moving forward? A guy you were ready to send packing and now a guy you look at who should be kept around with Connor and Leon and try to go capture a Stanley Cup?

Tyler Yaremchuk: Yeah a couple of names come to mind. Connor Brown and Mattias Janmark. Both guys should definitely be looked at in terms of bringing them back for the bottom six, they’re both pending UFA’s, and they shouldn’t be that expensive. A word floating around was that McDavid was a guy who went to the team to bring back Janmark, he’s a good locker room guy. Brown, I think the bonus stings a little less next season, so you can bring him back on a cheaper contract that works great. Another guy is Philipp Broberg, a guy who barely played in the season, was called up and didn’t play until the tail end of the Dallas series. From what I have seen in his last eight games, he’s a top-four defenseman.
