Jets place Nikolaj Ehlers on injured reserve; Brad Lambert called up
The Winnipeg Jets announced that they have placed forward Nikolaj Ehlers on injured reserve, retroactive to Nov. 29.
Ehlers was injured in Nov. 29 game against the Vegas Golden Knights when he threw a hit on Golden Knights forward Pavel Dorofeyev resulting in an awkward ending where Dorofeyev appeared to step on Ehlers’ foot.
Ehlers is off to a strong start, notching nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points in 24 games.
TRANSACTIONS: The #NHLJets have recalled F – Brad Lambert from the Manitoba Moose (AHL).
The Jets have also placed F – Nikolaj Ehlers on injured reserve retroactive to Nov. 29.
Last season, the 28-year-old racked up 25 goals and 36 assists for 61 points in 82 games. Ehlers set career highs in goals, assists and points, he added two assists in five Stanley Cup Playoff contests.
Meanwhile, Winnipeg announced that it has recalled Brad Lambert from the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League (AHL).
The Finnish forward has tallied 11 points in 16 games with Manitoba this season.
Lambert spent the 2023-24 regular season with the Moose in the AHL where he registered 20 goals and 34 assists for a team-leading 54 points in 63 games. Among Moose skaters, Lambert ranked second in goals and second in assists.
The 20-year-old was oringally selected No. 30 overall in the 2022 NHL Draft by Winnipeg. Lambert spent time with the Moose during the 2022-23 regular season before being sent to the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League (WHL). While with Seattle, Lambert exploded onto the scene and scored 17 goals and 38 points in 26 games, he added 20 assists and 26 points in 17 WHL Playoff contests en route to a WHL Championship.
The Jets are currently 18-7-0 and sit second in the Central Division.
