Jets’ rebound victory against the Panthers was as impressive as any win this season
One of the hottest teams at the beginning of the 2024-25 season made a statement with a win over the defending Stanley Cup champions.
The Winnipeg Jets rebounded from a road loss to the Florida Panthers this past Saturday by taking down the Cats with a 6-3 win at home on Tuesday night.
Winnipeg was powered by a great performance by Mark Scheifele, who netted a hat trick in the win. Morgan Barron also found the back of the net twice, while Kyle Connor, Nikolaj Ehlers and Josh Morrissey all had multi-point nights.
The Jets had lost back-to-back games before Tuesday night’s victory, a notable hiccup after setting an NHL record by winning 15 of their first 16 games of the season. Beating the Panthers the way Winnipeg did shows this team has a chance to be something special this year.
On Wednesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk talk about the Jets’ solid win over Florida.
Tyler Yaremchuk: This says a lot about the Jets…This was, in my mind, as impressive of a win as they’ve had in their first 15.
Frank Seravalli: This one felt personal. Think back to the home-and-home…the chant from the Panthers fanbase saying, “Overrated.” When you hear that, if you’re the Jets…the first thing you want to do is prove that’s not a fluke. Look, are the Jets bound to lose a few games this season? Of course, they are. We all know this regression from the start they’ve had, that’s coming. They’re going to have some bumps in the road, but to respond against a Panthers team that has been as good as anyone so far this season, and just blew your doors off…to bounce back the way they have, this was, to me, the most impressive statement win anyone has had so far in the first month of the season.
