Veteran play-by-play broadcaster Josh Forslund will handle the call for the live game broadcasts and will be flanked by a rotating cast of former NHLers–Jody Shelley, Thomas Hickey, and Shane Hnidy. The broadcast will also feature an on-site desk panel led by hosts Adnan Virk and Andi Petrillo, along with analyst Blake Bolden.
Hall of Famer Mark Messier joins the crew as a contributor. The six-time Stanley Cup champion will appear on the panel for select broadcasts and in vignettes throughout the season. Messier will also continue his work as an NHL analyst on ESPN Stateside.
Forslund is one of the most recognizable voices in the game. The former Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes broadcaster has served as the Seattle Kraken’s main TV voice since the team entered the league in 2021. He has also worked national games in the United States for the NHL on NBC and NHL on TNT.
Shelley has worked as an analyst for the Columbus Blue Jackets on Fox Sports Ohio. Hnidy has been the TV color commentator for the Vegas Golden Knights since they entered the league and has also served as an analyst for TNT. Since his retirement, Hickey has been working as a desk analyst on New York Islanders broadcasts on MSG Networks.
Petrillo’s resume includes working for CBC Sports, including being the first woman to be a full-time on-air personality for Hockey Night in Canada. She has also hosted Canada’s Olympics coverage and covered some of the biggest events in hockey for various outlets.
Virk has been a noticeable presence as host of MLB Network and NHL Network programming. He previously worked at ESPN, The Score, and host and reporting roles with Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment.
Bolden is a former women’s pro player with a championship pedigree. The former Boston College star won two gold medals with the United States at the IIHF Women’s Under-18 World Championship and had a successful career in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League and the Premier Hockey Federation—formerly known as the National Women’s Hockey League. Bolden won the CWHL’s Clarkson Cup with the Boston Blades in 2015, before winning the Isobel Cup with the NWHL’s Boston Pride the following year. She recently served as an AHL scout for the Los Angeles Kings.
The programs, which will be available exclusively to Prime customers in Canada, will begin next month alongside the beginning of the 2024-25 season. The first edition of Prime Monday Night Hockey will be on Canadian Thanksgiving–Monday, Oct. 14–when the Montreal Canadiens host the Pittsburgh Penguins. The weekly live studio show, Coast to Coast, will air on Thursdays at 7 p.m. ET starting Oct. 10.
