Jordan Binnington becomes St. Louis Blues’ all-time wins leader

Jordan Binnington sits atop the St. Louis Blues‘ record books.

With his sixth win of the season, his 152nd of his Blues’ career, Binnington sets the Blues’ franchise record for wins surpassing Mike Luit’s mark of 151. Luit’s record had stood for more than 39 years, posting his 151st win during the 1984-85 season. Luit made sure to congratulate Binnington after the Blues’ 3-0 shutout win over the New Jersey Devils.

Luit currently serves as Binnington’s agent and earlier this year was inducted into the Blues franchise Hall of Fame.

The 3-0 shutout against the Devils was Binnington’s first of the season and 16th of his career. The Blues’ netminder owns a 152-103-32 career record, along with a 2.81 goals-against average, .907 save-percentage, and helped the Blues win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history in 2019.

Through 18 games this season, the Richmond Hill, ON native has posted a 6-9-1 record, with a 2.86 goals against average and .898 save percentage. Binnington’s coming off a 28-win season, with his career high of 30 coming back during the 2019-20 season.

Binnington surpasses Luit’s wins mark in 298 games, meanwhile Luit had appeared in 347 games to reach the feat. Luit now sits in second in Blues’ history, and is joined by Jake Allen, Curtis Joseph, and Grant Fuhr on St. Louis’ top-five all-time list.

With Wednesday’s win the Blues move to 11-12-1 on the season, winning two in a row under new head coach Jim Montgomery. The Blues won Montgomery’s debut on Monday, with a 5-2 victory over the New York Rangers and will look for three in a row on Saturday, when they host the Philadelphia Flyers.

It unfortunately wasn’t all good news for St. Louis on Wednesday, as the team lost forward Pavel Buchnevich mid-way through the second period due to a lower-body injury. Buchnevich fell awkwardly in the slot, and immediately made his way down the Blues’ tunnel.
