Kings place Darcy Kuemper, Caleb Jones on injured reserve

The Los Angeles Kings announced they have placed goaltender Darcy Kuemper and defenseman Caleb Jones on injured reserve.

Kuemper has a 4-2-3 record, a 2.66 goals against average and a .910 save percentage in 10 games. Kuemper missed a few games due to injury already this season.

Kuemper was acquired by the Kings in exchange for Pierre-Luc Dubois . Kuemper had a down year in Washington, with a 13-14-3 record, an .890% save percentage, one shutout and -1.73 goals saved above expected. He currently has three years left on his five-year contract with a $5.25 million cap hit.

Jones has appeared in five games with the Kings this season, registering zero points. The Kings signed Jones to a $775,000 cap hit through the 2024-25 season.

Last season, the Arlington, Texas native signed a one-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. However, before the 2023-24 season even started, Jones was traded to the Colorado Avalanche for Cal Burke. Jones finished the season in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Colorado Eagles he registered six assists in 12 games.

In 247 NHL games, Jones has notched 14 goals and 41 assists with a plus/minus of -35, appearing in five playoff games. He has played in 137 AHL games, scoring 11 goals and 52 assists, notching three helpers in 10 Calder Cup Playoff games.
