Hollywood is keeping a young forward around for a few more years.

On Saturday, the Los Angeles Kings announced they have re-signed forward Alex Turcotte to a three-year contract, with an AAV of $775,000 carrying through the end of the 2026-27 season.

It is a bit of a pay cut for the young center, as Turcotte’s entry-level contract had an AAV of $2,444,167, which included over $1.55 million in bonuses.

Turcotte has been with the Kings organization since the team took him fifth overall in the 2019 NHL Draft. The Elk Grove, Illinois native played sparingly in L.A. over the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons, but saw elevated time with the big club this past year. Turcotte appeared in 20 games with the Kings this season, registering four points, scoring his first NHL goal back on January 31 against the Nashville Predators.

Over the past three campaigns, the 23-year-old has played in 32 NHL games. He has spent the majority of his time with the Kings’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Ontario Reign. Turcotte first came to the Reign during the 2020-21 season after one season at the University of Wisconsin. He scored a career-high 10 goals and 19 assists for 29 points in 35 games this past season, potting two goals and two assists in eight Calder Cup playoff games.

In 126 AHL games, Turcotte has scored 28 goals and 57 assists, including seven points in 13 playoff appearances.

He has also represented his country multiple times in his young career. Along with being a member of the U.S. National Team Development Program, Turcotte won gold at the 2017 Under-17 World Hockey Challenge, and silver and bronze at the 2017 and 2018 IIHF Men’s Under-18 World Championships, respectively. He was also a big part of the American team that won the gold medal at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship, as Turcotte scored what ended up being the game-winning goal.

With the signing, the Kings have 26 standard player contracts on the books for next season. According to CapFriendly, Los Angeles has close to $23.5 million in cap space for the 2024-25 campaign.
