Kings’ Tanner Jeannot suspended three games for illegal hit on Canucks’ Brock Boeser

The National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced Friday that Los Angeles Kings’ forward Tanner Jeannot has been suspended for three games for an illegal check to the head against Vancouver Canucks’ forward Brock Boeser.

The incident occurred in the first period of Friday’s game between the two teams.

Boeser was able to get up on his own and was escorted off the ice by Canucks medical personnel. The Canucks later announced that Boeser would not return to the game.

Jeannot is eligible to return against the Detroit Red Wings on Nov. 16, missing games against Columbus on Saturday, Calgary on Monday, and Colorado on Wednesday.

Jeannot was acquired by the Kings ahead of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a 2024 fourth-round pick and 2025 second-round pick. Through 15 games with L.A., Jeannot has a goal and an assist, along with 36 penalty minutes.

Now in his fifth NHL season, Jeannot has 43 goals and 39 assists for 82 points and 350 penalty minutes through 242 regular-season games with the Kings, Lightning and Nashville Predators.

His best season was in 2021-22, where he scored 24 goals and 17 assists for 41 points and 130 penalty minutes.

Jeannot, who was undrafted, spent four full seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Moose Jaw Warriors. His best season was his last in 2017-18, where he scored 40 goals and 40 assists for 80 points and 83 penalty minutes in 72 games.

The Kings are 8-4-3 with 19 points, second in the Pacific Division. Captain Anze Kopitar leads the team in scoring with five goals and 10 assists for 15 points.
