Kraken name Jordan Eberle as second captain in franchise history
The Seattle Kraken have named veteran forward Jordan Eberle as captain.
Eberle will become the second captain in franchise history behind Mark Giordano. Eberle has served as an assistant captain for the last three seasons.

The Regina, Saskatchewan native registered 17 goals and 27 assists for 44 points in 78 games during the 2023-24 season. Eberle surpassed the 1,000-game mark back in March and shortly before that the Kraken extended Eberle to a two-year contract extension worth $4.75 million per season.
Through three seasons with the Kraken, Eberle has scored 58 goals and 93 assists for 151 points in 239 games. Now entering his 15th NHL season, Eberle has 299 goals and 403 assists for 702 points in 1,015 career games.
Eberle was drafted No. 22 overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers and played seven seasons with them, scoring 165 goals and 217 assists for 382 points in 507 games. He reached career highs in his second season, scoring 34 goals and 42 assists for 76 points in 2011-12. Eberle then spent four seasons on Long Island with the New York Islanders before finding himself part of the Seattle Kraken expansion process.
Prior to turning pro, Eberle was a prolific junior hockey player in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Regina Pats. Eberle notched 155 goals and 155 assists for 310 points in 254 WHL games.
Internationally, Eberle has represented Canada multiple times but is well known for his last-second goal during the 2009 World Juniors against Russia to tie the game at 5-5.
Seattle is set to face off against St. Louis Blues in the first game of the season today.
