Kraken sign Joey Daccord to five-year, $5 million AAV contract

As Elliotte Friedman first reported, the Seattle Kraken have signed goaltender Joey Daccord to a five-year, $25 million contract extension.

As per details of the contract, Daccord will have an average annual value (AAV) of $5 million per season.

The 28-year-old put together a 28-19-11 record last season with Seattle to go along with a 2.46 goals against average and a .916 save percentage in 50 appearances.

Daccord is currently in the final year of a two-year extension he signed with the Kraken in June 2023. During the 2022-23 campaign, Daccord was a key member of the Kraken’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the Coachella Valley Firebirds first season. Daccord had a 26-8-3 record with three shutouts and a .918 save percentage during the regular season; he led the Firebirds to Game 7 of the Calder Cup playoffs. He was outstanding for the Firebirds, snagging three shutouts and a .926 save percentage in 26 playoff games.

The North Andover, Massachusetts native is one of the original members of the Kraken, with the club taking him with the sixth pick from Ottawa at the 2021 expansion draft. At the time, he had just nine games to his credit in the NHL, and played just 10 games total in 2020-21. Daccord had an 0-4-0 run to start his time in Seattle in 2021-22 but had a solid run with the Charlotte Checkers.

Seattle is 0-1-0 to start the 2024-25 campaign after dropping their first game of the season 3-2 to the St. Louis Blues. The Kraken will play Minnesota on Saturday where Daccord should get his first start of the year.
