The Seattle Kraken announced that Chandler Stephenson will be out day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Stephenson has tallied 11 goals and 37 assists for 48 points in 69 games with the Kraken this season. Stephenson reportedly went down the Kraken’s tunnel to the dressing room late in the second period during the March 19th game against the Minnesota Wild. Stephenson had one shot and two takeaways in 11:33 of ice time as the Kraken went on to lose 4-0 to the Wild.

Stephenson signed a seven-year, $6.25 million AAV contract with Seattle last summer after he tallied 16 goals and 35 assists for 51 points in 75 games with the Vegas Golden Knights.

The two-time Stanley Cup champion has scored 100 goals and 218 assists for 318 points in 564 NHL games, including 39 points in 95 playoff games.

Drafted 77th overall by the Washington Capitals, Stephenson started his career as a depth offensive contributor. He helped the Capitals win their first Stanley Cup in 2018 before eventually landing in Vegas in 2019. Stephenson’s production in Vegas quickly improved which ended up leading to back-to-back 60-point campaigns.

Tye Kartye was the Kraken’s lone healthy scratch at forward and will probably draw into the lineup in his place. Kartye has 4 goals and 4 assists for 8 points in 54 games for Seattle this season.

Seattle currently sits seventh in the Pacific Division with a 30-36-5 record and 65 points through 71 games. The Kraken sit three points back of the Anaheim Ducks. The Kraken will look to get back into action on Tuesday versus the Calgary Flames.
