While everyone is excited to see what kind of show Canada and Sweden are going to put on in the opening game of the 4 Nations Face-Off on Wednesday, people are excited to see what the United States will bring to the table, especially up front.

There is a lot of intrigue to see how Matthew and Brady Tkachuk play on the same team and how Zach Werenski and Jack Hughes perform in the best-on-best tournament. However, there is one player that could make the most significant impact in the short event–Kyle Connor.

While he might not have the same pomp and circumstance as other big names in the tournament, Connor comes into the tournament in the midst of another exceptional season with the Winnipeg Jets. The Shelby Township, Michigan native went into the break tied for fifth in the NHL in scoring with 69 points, and has been a big reason why the Jets have the best record in the league.

It will be interesting to see how his game translates to the big stage, as the former Michigan Wolverines hasn’t played an international game since the 2016 IIHF Men’s World Championship.

On Wednesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Scott Burnside joined Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk to explain why Connor is going to be a difference-maker for the U.S.

Scott Burnside: In terms of a game-breaker, offensively, and I don’t think people understand how good he is, but Kyle Connor is blazingly fast and he is the real deal when it comes to delivering the goods. I mean, that whole Winnipeg team has to get over the hump. You talk about Connor Hellebuyck…that is a team that hasn’t made good on expectations, but I think Kyle Connor is a guy you watch on Team USA.
