LA Kings to play two preseason games in Quebec City next October
The Los Angeles Kings will play two 2024 preseason games in Quebec City on Oct. 3 and Oct. 5, the team announced on Tuesday.
The Kings will hold the final leg of their training camp at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City starting on Oct. 2. The team will then host two games at the arena against the Boston Bruins and the Florida Panthers.
This will be the first game the NHL played in Quebec City in five years.
“I’m very pleased to be able to wind up our preseason schedule at the Videotron Centre,” said Kings President Luc Robitaille, a native of Montreal. “I know how passionate Quebec City fans are about the game. We will be very proud to play here next fall. Fans will be able to see our stars and watch young players compete for a spot in our 2024-25 lineup.”
The Quebec City Nordiques played in the NHL between 1979 and 1995, winning two division championships in 1985-86 and their last season, 1994-95, before moving to Colorado and becoming the Avalanche. Before joining the NHL, the Nordiques spent seven seasons in the World Hockey Association, winning a league championship in 1976-77.
“Quebec City area fans will get to cheer for NHL teams at the Videotron Centre again,” said Martin Tremblay, COO of Quebecor’s Sports and Entertainment Group. “It’s a true privilege to welcome such a prestigious organization as the LA Kings for the final week of their training camp. I thank their president, Luc Robitaille, for his confidence in Gestev.”
The Kings also announced that they won’t be able to play preseason games next autumn in Los Angeles due to the final phase of renovations taking place at Crypto.com Arena. These enhancements are scheduled for completion prior to the start of the regular season.
