Lightning re-sign Declan Carlile to two-year, two-way contract

Tampa Bay Lightning vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced today that the club has re-signed defenseman Declan Carlile to a two-year, two-way contract.

Carlile spent the 2023-24 regular season with the Lightning’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the Syracuse Crunch where he registered seven goals and 20 assists for 27 points in 61 games. Carlile ranked tied for first among Crunch defensemen for goals and second for assists, points, plus/minus (+10) and power-play assists. The 24-year-old added one goal and five points in eight Calder Cup Playoff contests.

Carlile made his NHL debut with the Lightning on January 4, 2024, against the Minnesota Wild. Carlile blocked two shots and put up one hit in 11:27 minutes of ice time. Throughout his time in Syracuse, Carlile has registered 16 goals and 38 assists for 54 points in 140 AHL games.

The Hartland, Michigan, native was undrafted out of Merrimack College before signing his first contract with the Lightning on March 16, 2022. That NCAA season, Carlile was nominated for the Hobey Baker Award as the top collegiate athlete, he registered 24 points in 35 games leading Merrimack. Carlie was also nominated for the NCAA Walter Brown Award. He tallied 56 points in 83 NCAA games over parts of three seasons.
