Tampa Bay Lightning vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced Monday that the club has signed goaltender Brandon Halverson to a two-year contract. The contract will begin this season and extend to the end of the 2025-26 season.

The contract is worth $775,000 average annual value.

Halverson has appeared in 26 American Hockey League (AHL) games this season with the Bolts’ affiliate the Syracuse Crunch posting a 12-7-7 record with a .918 save percentage, 2.20 goals-against average and four shutouts. The 6-foot-5, 235-pound goaltender was selected to represent the North Division at the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic.

The Traverse City, Michigan native was originally drafted No. 59 overall in the 2014 NHL Draft by the New York Rangers. Halverson has appeared in one NHL contest, making his debut with the Rangers on February 17, 2018, against the Ottawa Senators.

Halverson has appeared in 92 AHL contests with the Crunch, Hartford Wolf Pack and Tuscon Roadrunners registering a 37-39-14 record with a .900 save percentage, 2.87 goals-against average and five shutouts.

Halverson spent his major junior days with the Soo Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and his most memorable season came during the 2014-15 campaign when he put together a 40-5-2 record to go with a 2.63 goals against average in 50 OHL starts.

Halverson represented the United States at the World Juniors twice and appeared in three games in total throughout the two tournaments.

During the 2022-23 season, Halverson took his talents to Germany and appeared in 17 games with the Bayreuth Tigers in the DEL2. He put together a 5-10-0 record and a .909 save percentage.

Now back on North American soil, Halverson has earned himself an NHL contract.
