Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brayden Point has racked up a goal and an assist in three games for Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off.

Today on Daily Faceoff Live, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk talked about how Point might be Canada’s X-Factor against the USA.

Canada and the USA will play in the championship game of the 4 Nations Face-Off on Thursday in Boston.

Frank Seravalli: This brings me to my point, which is Brayden Point. I mean, we’ve got the lines up here on the screen. I don’t think it’s a reach to say that Brayden Point is the lynchpin to Canada’s win on Thursday if they’re gonna get one.

Frank Seravalli: I think about how the third period played out against the Americans. Jon Cooper took every line combo that he could possibly think of written on a million different cocktail napkins, probably since the summer, and threw them all on the ice at the Bell Centre for everyone to see, he couldn’t find something that stuck, but Brayden Point on Monday appeared to stick, and if they can just nail that down, and you can just cross that off the list and say that’s solved.

Frank Seravalli: We’ve got our combo with Connor McDavid, Zach Hyman, um, not here. That could have worked, but if you’ve got something with Point who has demonstrated and shown in his career that he can play alongside the very best in the world in Nikita Kucherov, if he can do that here with Connor McDavid, it’s just one less thing to worry about so that’s what I’d zero in on for today. that would be a huge moment for Canada. Yeah, but in the bottom six, you need more drivers, less passengers, and that’s what we saw on Saturday for Canada, too many passengers.
