Lightning’s Tanner Jeannot and Pat Maroon exit game with injuries
Tampa Bay Lightning forward Tanner Jeannot left Thursday night’s game against the New York Islanders with a lower-body injury.

— x – Tampa Bay Lightning (@TBLightning) April 7, 2023The incident occurred during the second period when Islanders defenseman Scott Mayfield hit Jeannot, raising his leg nd then causing him to fall backwards dangerous and awkwardly on his leg. Jeannot was in serious discomfort on the ice and was helped off the ice by Lightning medical trainer and teammates Corey Perry and Zach Bogosian.
Jeannot was acquired by the Lightning prior to the trade deadline in an absolute haul of a trade that saw Cal Foote and five draft picks. Since joining the Bolts’ Jeannot has tallied one goal, and three assists in 19 games to go along with 75 hits and 22 penalty minutes. With the Predators, he had registered 14 points in 56 games and 213 hits.
Last season, the Oxbow, Saskatchewan product emerged as an offensive threat when he notched 24 goals and 41 points in 81 games. Jeannot is currently in the final year of a two-year, $1,600,000 contract extension he signed with the Predators in 2021. The contract has a cap bit of $800,000. Jeannot will be a restricted-free agent this summer.
Additionally, Lightning forward Pat Maroon will also not return to tonight’s game due to an upper-body injury. The incident occurred during the second period when Maroon took a run at Islanders forward Bo Horvat and was in some discomfort after the hit h,olding left his arm and wrist. Maroon has registered 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 76 games to go along with 143 penalty minutes. The list of injuries for the Lightning keeps piling up; Maroon and Jeannot join Anthony Cirelli, Brandon Hagel and Erik Cernak on the sidelines.
