The Kings could cause trouble in the playoffs

Between the struggles of the Edmonton Oilers and the recent success of the Los Angeles Kings, the two are neck and neck fighting for home ice in what’s likely to be their fourth-straight first round matchup together. But with the recent trends of both teams, are the Kings finally in a position to beat the Oilers after Edmonton has won the first three series’?
Colby Cohen talked about why he likes the Kings’ chances against the Oilers this season on Daily Faceoff Live.
Colby Cohen: If the playoffs started right now, and you asked me who was going to win that series, I would take the L.A. Kings based on what I’ve seen. And I think that’s fair based on what we have seen. They’re just playing a more complete game. They’re scoring more goals than they did last year. They’re much more aggressive.
They’re insane when they don’t have Brandt Clarke in the lineup because he is the one guy who brings you a ton of mobility and offense. Yes, I know they have Drew Doughty, he is on the back night of his career, and he did deal with major injury this season.
But at the end of the day, I like the way the LA Kings are playing. I like the way that they’re getting up the ice. You watched them enter the zone on the power play, they had that little trick play the other night that resulted in an Adrian Kempe breakaway opportunity and finish.
So look, I can say this. The one seeds have a much easier path. The wild card teams are not scary teams to me in the West, but boy, those 2v3 matchups in those divisions are going to be absolute gauntlets to get through.
