Kings sign Andre Lee to two-year contract extension

The Los Angeles Kings announced Saturday that the club has signed left winger Andre Lee to a two-year contract extension worth $775,000 per season.

Through 19 appearances with the Kings this season, Lee has scored one goal and added two assists for three points coupled with 11 penalty minutes and a minus-five rating. Lee has also seen 29 appearances with the AHL affiliated Ontario Reign in which he has tallied three goals and six assists for nine points with 26 penalty minutes and a minus-one mark. In all, Lee has spent part of four seasons with the Reign totaling 134 contests in which he has collected 17 goals and 16 assists for 33 points.

A graduate of the NCAA’s UMass Lowell River Hawks, Lee spent three seasons at the collegiate ranks highlighted by 2021-22 when he neared point-per-game production with 16 goals and 12 assists through 34 appearances to earn a spot on Hockey East’s Third All-Star Team. The 24-year-old Swedish-born forward also spent a single season with the USHL’s Sioux Falls Stampede where in 61 appearances he put up 20 goals and 15 assists for 35 points. Lee then added another six goals and five assists for 11 points through 12 postseason outings en route to the Clark Cup championship.

Lee was originally chosen by the Kings in the seventh round of the 2019 NHL Draft.

For the Kings, on the season the club sits 31-20-9 to hold down third place in the Pacific Division with 71 points. Following Wednesday’s shootout loss to the St. Louis Blues, the Kings will look to turn the tables when the two squads connect again Saturday in Los Angeles. In all, it will mark the third time in the past four games in which the Kings have faced the Blues following last Saturday’s 4-1 loss in St. Louis.
