Los Angeles Kings president and general manager Rob Blake announced Friday that the club has signed prospect Angus Booth a three-year, entry level contract. The contract will have an average annual value (AAV) of $852,500.

The Kings selected Booth in the fourth round, No. 116 overall in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

The Montreal, Quebec product plays with the Shawinigan Cataractes in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He has two goals and 12 assists for 14 points in 29 games and sits third among Cataractes’ defenders in the points margin.

Last season, Booth captained Shawinigan and notched 19 points in 63 games, he added four assists and five points in five QMJHL Playoff contests. During the 2021-22 campaign, Booth helped Shawinigan capture the Giles-Courteau Trophy as QMJHL Champions, he added four points in 16 QMJHL Playoff contests and added one assist at the 2022 Memorial Cup held in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Shawinigan sits in fourth place in the Central Division with a 14-18-2-0 record and 30 points through 34 games this season. Kings fans can watch Booth in action as the Cataractes take on the Gatineau Olympiques and Drummondville Voltigeurs over the weekend.

Booth was the third selection by Blake and the Kings in the 2022 Draft following the selections of Jack Hughes and Kenny Connors. Other players drafted that year include Otto Salin, Jared Wright, Jack Sparkes and Kaleb Lawerence. He becomes the first member of that Kings draft class to sign his entry-level contract.

The Kings return to action on Dec. 30 against Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and the Edmonton Oilers at the Crypto.com arena.
