The Los Angeles Kings have signed forward Warren Foegele to a three-year contract and defenseman Joel Edmundson to a four-year contract, according to multiple reports.

Foegele, 28, set career highs with 20 goals, 21 assists, and 41 points in 82 games with the Edmonton Oilers during the 2023-24 regular season. The 6’2″ left wing added two goals and six points in 20 games during the Oilers’ run to the 2024 Stanley Cup Final.

Edmundson, 31, split the 2023-24 season between the Washington Capitals and Toronto Maple Leafs, collecting one goal and six points in 53 games. Daily Faceoff‘s Frank Seravalli reported that Edmundson’s new contract carries a $3.8 million cap hit.

According to TSN’s Darren Dreger, Foegele’s new contract with the Kings carries an annual cap hit around $3.5 million. The deal will run through 2027 and make Foegele an unrestricted free agent again upon its expiry.

The Oilers acquired Foegele from the Carolina Hurricanes back in 2021 in exchange for defenseman Ethan Bear. Foegele spent three full seasons in Edmonton, exceeding 25 points in each and topping out with his first 20-goal season in his contract year.

The Hurricanes originally selected Foegele in the third round (No. 67 overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft. The Markham, Ontario product enjoyed a strong junior career with the OHL’s Kingston Frontenacs and Erie Otters before eventually making his NHL debut with the Hurricanes in the 2017-18 season.

Through 431 career games over parts of seven NHL seasons with the Oilers and Hurricanes, Foegele has collected 80 goals and 163 points. He’s added 11 goals and 22 points in 78 playoff games.

Edmundson made his NHL debut with the St. Louis Blues in the 2015-16 season after being selected by the club in the second round (No. 46 overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft. After helping the Blues win the Stanley Cup in 2019, Edmundson played for the Carolina Hurricanes and Montreal Canadiens before landing in D.C.

In 530 career games over nine NHL seasons with five different teams, Edmundson has racked up 29 goals and 110 points while averaging 18:30 of ice time per game. He’s added six goals and 22 points in 82 career playoff contests.
