Los Angeles Kings to host seven-team 2024 Rookie Faceoff tournament
The Los Angeles Kings have announced that they will be hosting seven teams for the 2024 Rookie Faceoff tournament this fall.
The tournament is an annually held event with the location rotating every year. It will take place from September 13th to September 16th, and will be held at the Toyota Sports Performance Center in El Segundo, California.
The tournament will feature seven teams, including the Kings, Anaheim Ducks, Colorado Avalanche, San Jose Sharks, Seattle Kraken, Utah Hockey Club and Vegas Golden Knights. Six of the seven teams will play three games, while the Kraken will only get into two. The tournament will feature some of the respective teams’ top prospects, as well as give lesser known prospects and undrafted players an opportunity to make an impression on the team in competitive game action ahead of training camp and the preseason.
The event will feature three games on Friday, September 13th and Monday, September 16th, with only two games being played on Saturday, September 14th and Sunday, September 15th. The schedule for the tournament is as follows:
Friday, Sept. 13
San Jose vs. Utah, 1:00 p.m. PT
Colorado vs. Anaheim, 3:30 p.m. PT
Vegas vs. Los Angeles, 7:00 p.m. PT
Saturday, Sept. 14
Seattle vs. Colorado, 3:00 p.m. PT
Utah vs. Los Angeles, 7:00 p.m. PT
Sunday, Sept. 15
Vegas vs. Seattle, 1:00 p.m. PT
Anaheim vs. San Jose, 4:30 p.m. PT
Monday, Sept. 16
Colorado vs. San Jose, 11:30 a.m. PT
Utah vs. Vegas, 12:30 p.m. PT
Anaheim vs. Los Angeles, 3:30 p.m. PT
The Kings also announced that all three of their games on Friday, Saturday, and Monday will be streamed live for fans in the Los Angeles market on LAKings.com. Information on rosters, broadcast information and ticket sales will be announced at a later date.
The Kings will then begin their preseason schedule a week later, with their first game taking place on Monday, September 23rd with a matchup against Utah at 6 p.m. PST.
