San Jose Sharks No. 1 overall pick Macklin Celebrini was placed on the injured reserve almost a week ago now, but after some more talks, it sounds like the rookie could miss yet another few weeks.

Celebrini scored his first NHL goal in his first NHL game against the St. Louis Blues.

Today on Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli shared some insight into Celebrini’s injury and what the timeline could look like.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Let’s talk about the first overall pick Macklin Celebrini, any word on when Sharks fans could get another look at him? I mean it’s such a great first game and then you end up on the IR.

Frank Seravalli: Yeah it’s really such a bummer, but I’m told that it’s going to be a couple of weeks before we see Celebrini back again. He’s been dealing with a nagging hip injury they want to take their time they want to make sure they get this right so that this isn’t something that hinders him all season long. And right now, patience is the name of the game. He’s technically listed as day-to-day. He could be back really as soon as today, I believe, based on his IR status. But I’m told we’re likely looking at a couple more weeks before we see Celebrini back in the lineup, which is tough. I guess in the grand scheme and picture of a full season and a long, prosperous career, maybe this makes sense.
