Toronto Maple Leafs’ forward Mitch Marner recorded his 500th career assist Thursday night against the Seattle Kraken, another major milestone in the young NHLer’s career.

Marner achieved the feat midway through the first period, getting a secondary helper on a Philippe Myers goal that gave the Maple Leafs a 1-0 lead. It was Myers’ first goal as a Leaf, and his first since 2022-23.

The 27-year-old Marner has 16 goals and 55 assists for 71 points, the second-most assists in the league and tied for fourth in the league in points. Now in his ninth NHL season, Marner has 210 goals and 500 assists for 710 points in 629 career regular-season games.

Marner has hit the 90-point mark three times, and in 2021-22 he recorded 97 points (35 goals and 62 assists) in 72 games, while in 2022-23, he finished with 99 points (30 goals and 69 assists) in 80 games.

Marner, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, also has 11 goals and 39 assists for 50 points in 57 career Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Going into the night, Toronto had a 32-19-2 record with 66 points, second in the Atlantic Division behind the Florida Panthers. The team has won two straight but is 5-5-0 in their last 10 games.

Their next game is Saturday in B.C. against the Vancouver Canucks, then they have a two-week break for the 4 Nations Face-Off. Marner will represent Canada in the tournament, the first time he’s worn a Canadian sweater since the 2017 World Championships, and the 2016 World Junior Championships.
