The feat marks the second such accomplishment this season for Fleury, who earlier in the 2024-25 campaign leapfrogged fellow French Canadian netminder Patrick Roy for then third place on the all-time list. Last season, Fleury also overtook Roy for second spot on the all-time wins list. Fleury trails only Martin Brodeur in both all-time games played (1,266) and wins (691).
In all, through 1,045 career contests counting stops with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Vegas Golden Knights, Chicago Blackhawks, and Wild, Fleury has posted a 572-336-97 career record coupled with a .912 save percentage, 2.60 goals-against average, and 76 shutouts.
Fleury’s success has also translated to the postseason where through 169 playoff games he has found the win column 92 times alongside a .911 save percentage, 2.56 goals-against average, and 16 shutouts. Originally chosen first-overall by Pittsburgh in the 2003 NHL Draft, Fleury was a three-time Stanley Cup champion with the Penguins, counting championships in 2009, 2016, and 2017. Fleury also led the Golden Knights to the Stanley Cup Final in the club’s inaugural season in 2018.
As part of the Golden Knights in 2020-21, Fleury was presented with the Vezina Trophy as the NHL’s Goaltender of the Year after he went 26-10-0 with a .928 save percentage, 1.96 goals-against average, and six shutouts. With the Wild this season, the 40-year-old netminder stands 11-6-1 with a .910 save percentage, 2.57 goals-against average, and one shutout. Fleury originally joined the Wild prior to the 2022 NHL trade deadline.
A pending unrestricted free agent, earlier this season Fleury confirmed his intent to announce his retirement at the conclusion of the 2024-25 campaign.
