Could Marco Rossi be a good fit for the Flames?

The drama of the offseason is always an exciting and stressful time for hockey fans. Players on the move and signing big contracts help keep many of us filled with hockey talk in the warm summer months.
One player who has a question mark attached to his name is Minnesota Wild forward Macro Rossi. The pending restricted free agent is apparently having issues with signing an extension with the team, with reports saying that the Austrian is asking for too much.
That has seemingly opened the door for Wild general manager Bill Guerin to pursue possibly trading Rossi’s signing rights elsewhere. According to Michael Russo of The Athletic, the Vancouver Canucks are a team that’s interested in acquiring someone like Rossi. However, the Canucks’ rivals, the Calgary Flames, could be another team in the market for a young player with a high ceiling.
The Flames certainly have room to give Rossi a nice pay day, as GM Craig Conroy has just under $30 million of cap space to play with at the moment, according to CapWages.
Rossi is at the end of his entry-level contract, which had a cap hit of $863,333, with the AAV coming up to $1,713,333, thanks to $850,000 in performance bonuses.
On Tuesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli gives his thoughts on whether Marco Rossi might be on his way to the Flames.
Frank Seravalli: I can see that. I think they’re a team that obviously is looking for some center help. They’re a team that probably, all things considered, would prefer to get someone that has a little bit more size. But I think for a team that’s struggled to score goals as much as Calgary has, adding any sort of player that brings goals, brings a much-needed position, would make a ton of sense. I think Calgary’s all over the center market.
