Minnesota Wild re-sign Marc-Andre Fleury to two-year contract with $3.5 million cap hit
The Minnesota Wild have re-signed goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury to a two-year contract carrying a $3.5 million cap hit, the club announced Thursday evening.
Fleury, 37, posted a 28–23–5 record, four shutouts, and a .908 save percentage in 56 games with the Wild and Chicago Blackhawks during the 2021–22 regular season.
The former Pittsburgh Penguin and Vegas Golden Knight subsequently went 2–3 with a .906 save percentage in five playoff games as the Wild fell to the St. Louis Blues in the first round of the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Wild acquired Fleury from Chicago in March in exchange for a second-round pick (No. 57) in the 2022 NHL Draft. Daily Faceoff‘s Frank Seravalli reported Fleury’s deal will carry a full no-movement clause.
In 945 career regular-season games with Pittsburgh, Vegas, Chicago, and Minnesota, Fleury has posted a 522–302–87 record and a .913 save percentage. The Penguins originally selected Fleury with the No. 1 pick in 2003.
The Wild now have their presumptive goaltending tandem locked up for the 2022–23 season. Cam Talbot, who went 32–12–4 with the Wild in 2021–22, is signed through the end of 2022–23 at a $3.5 million cap hit.
