During a faceoff play between Hartman and Stutzle midway through the second period, Hartman pressed down on the back of Stutzle’s neck, pushing his face into the ice. Hartman was whistled two minutes for roughing and two minutes for embellishment, while Stutzle received a minor penalty for slashing. Hartman also received a match penalty, resulting in a game misconduct. Meanwhile, Stutzle wrapped up the night with one goal and two assists en route to a 6-0 victory.
With an in-person hearing, Hartman faces the possibility of receiving a suspension of five or more games. Last April, Hartman was suspended three games for unsportsmanlike conduct, while in November 2023 he was banned two games for a tripping incident. Hartman was also suspended for one game in April 2023 due to an interference infraction.
On the season, Hartman has made 48 appearances with the Wild in which he has registered seven goals and 10 assists for 17 points alongside a minus-eight rating and a team-leading 60 penalty minutes.
A veteran of 628 career contests counting stops with the Chicago Blackhawks, Nashville Predators, Philadelphia Flyers, and Wild, Hartman has collected 135 goals and 160 assists for 295 points with 637 penalty minutes. Hartman was originally chosen 30th overall by the Blackhawks in the 2013 NHL Draft.
Per PuckPedia, Hartman is in the first year of a three-year pact that carries a $4-million annual average value.
Following Saturday’s loss to the Senators, the Wild sit third place in the Central Division with a 31-18-4 record and 66 points. The Wild will have a chance to return to the win column when the club retakes the ice Tuesday against the Boston Bruins.
