The Minnesota Wild have traded defenseman Dmitry Kulikov to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for future considerations, the clubs announced Wednesday.

Kulikov, 31, scored seven goals and 24 points while averaging 18:12 in 80 games with the Wild during the 2021–22 regular season. The Lipetsk, Russia product added an assist in two 2022 playoff games.

Kulikov has one season remaining on his contract at a $2.25 million cap hit. He originally signed his two-year deal with the Wild last July.

Originally selected by the Florida Panthers in the first round (No. 14 overall) of the 2009 NHL Draft, Kulikov spent the first seven seasons of his professional career with the Panthers before being traded to the Buffalo Sabres in 2016.

The 6’1″, 185-pound left-handed defender has skated in 805 career NHL regular-season games with Florida, Buffalo, Winnipeg, New Jersey, Edmonton, and Minnesota, amassing 42 goals and 198 points. He’s also scored one goal and eight points in 29 playoff games.

Kulikov joins a Ducks defensive group that also includes John Klingberg, Cam Fowler, Kevin Shattenkirk, Jamie Drysdale, Urho Vaakanainen, Josh Mahura, and John Moore.

According to CapFriendly, the Wild now have an estimated $5.74 million of cap space with a 20-man roster.
