Minnesota Wild unveil green and yellow third jersey for 2023-24

The Minnesota Wild are bringing back some familiar colors.

The club announced Saturday morning that they’ll transform their Retro Reverse jersey design from last season into its third uniform, starting with the 2023-24 campaign. The team is dubbing the jersey “The 78s” in reference to the Minnesota North Stars that donned the look prior to becoming the Dallas Stars.

This is the first time the Wild have used this color scheme as an official third jersey outside of the Reverse Retro line. The Wild have had official North Stars-themed looks before, though, including one-off throwbacks in 2016 and 2017 and a white version as the 2020-21 Reverse Retro.

“Our primary home and road jerseys are as popular as ever with our fans,” Minnesota Wild senior brand advisor John Maher said in a statement. “They also let us know last season that they still loved this legacy look so we decided to keep it in our mix as a new alternate jersey, with some updated ‘State of Hockey’ details.”

New for this year is a shoulder patch featuring the team’s “State of Hockey” logo, with the captain’s C and A being encased in a patch of the team’s home state.

The Wild haven’t had a proper alternate jersey since 2017, when they used a dark green look with a stylized Minnesota Wild text logo.

The club will use the new alternate 15 times in 2022-23, starting with an Oct. 21 meeting with the Columbus Blue Jackets. They are not scheduled to play the Stars with the colorway, however.
