The Minnesota Wild announced that Joel Eriksson Ek is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury.
Eriksson Ek has tallied five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 22 games this season.
The 27-year-old was named to Sweden’s 4 Nations roster on Wednesday morning.
I'm hearing Joel Eriksson Ek is going to be week to week with a lower-body injury, so this is going to be a blow to the #mnwild. But this team has found a way to overcome lots of injuries so far this season. Of course, Eriksson Ek is considered their most irreplaceable center
— Michael Russo (@RussoHockey) December 4, 2024During the 2023-24 campaign, Eriksson Ek tallied a career-high 30 goals and 34 assists for 64 points in 77 games.
The Wild signed Eriksson Ek to an eight-year contract extension in July 2021, the deal carries an average annual value (AAV) of $5.25 million. He is currently in year four of that deal.
Eriksson Ek has played in 520 NHL games, all with the Wild, totalling 127 goals and 156 assists for 283 points, with another 10 points combining 26 Stanley Cup Playoff appearances.
Minnesota is currently 17-4-4, coming off a 3-2 overtime victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday. Minnesota sits 1st in the Central Division with 39 points and two points ahead of the Winnipeg Jets.
The Wild are slated to face off against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday and the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.
