Mitch Marner next team odds: Where oddsmakers think the star winger will land

Seeing where Mitch Marner will ultimately end up has to be the most intriguing storyline of the NHL offseason, particularly because there are plenty of legitimate candidates, making it difficult to predict anything for certain.
Marner has produced 1.26 points per game over the last five seasons while offering elite defensive results. His inability to produce at the same level come the postseason is the greatest reason this situation has gotten to the point that it has; however, 63 points in 70 playoff games with a positive goal differential is still not going to scare off many suitors.
While it would be shocking to see the Toronto Maple Leafs bring Marner back on anything less than a significant hometown discount, it’s still crazy that we are at the point where a homegrown talent of Marner’s ilk is set to walk away for nothing as an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Here’s a look at his next team odds courtesy of Bet99:

Oddsmakers believe there is less than a 10% chance that Marner will remain with the Leafs based on the current prices.
Marner is hitting the market at a great time, as there are several legitimate contenders capable of offering close to full-market value, while developing teams such as the Anaheim Ducks and Utah Mammoth could potentially be willing to make him the highest-salaried player in the NHL.
Vegas Golden Knights +500
The Knights will need to shed some significant salary if they are to land Marner, but even still they are priced as the favorite to do so.
Kelly McCrimmon and the Knights’ front office have never been shy to make aggressive moves to better the team, and many of the logical candidates to be moved do still hold enough value that shipping out their contracts would be realistic. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman has reported that the Golden Knights have been after Marner for a while and were in trade talks with the Leafs during the 2024 offseason.
Marner would take home a higher percentage of his salary playing in Vegas than he would in most other places, and they are a proven contender with a legitimate number-one center in Jack Eichel for Marner to play with. For those reasons, they are the favorite despite that there will almost certainly be higher bidders.
Anaheim Ducks +640
The Ducks have plenty of young talent ready to take the next step, and are reportedly keen to bring in a big fish to help accelerate their jump into contention. It’s been widely reported that GM Pat Verbeek will pitch Marner aggressively, and if that is the case, he will be capable of offering a higher salary than full-fledged contenders.
Marner may not be interested in playing for a team that will not be a realistic contender for at least two-or-three seasons; however, Orange County is an appealing spot to live, and he may be intrigued by the team’s long-term outlook.
Los Angeles Kings +640
The Kings play in a desirable market and could offer the best combination in terms of already being a borderline contender that has the cap space to be one of the highest bidders. New GM Ken Holland is reportedly eager to make a big splash with his cap space to attempt to put his team over the top, which suggests the Kings will throw their name in the hat.
Marner is familiar with head coach Jim Hiller from his time in Toronto. He is also a regular at the BioSteel Camps in the offseason, which fellow Ontario natives Drew Doughty, Quinton Byfield, and Warren Foegele also attend.
Carolina Hurricanes +800
The Carolina Hurricanes are currently priced as the betting favorites to win the 2025-26 Stanley Cup at +700, just a tick shorter than their price to land Marner. While the average hockey fan is not likely to agree with those odds, they are very well-situated for the future and an offensive star of Marner’s caliber could put them over the top.
It has been unanimously reported that the Hurricanes will pitch Marner once again this summer, after he reportedly declined to waive his no-trade clause to go to Carolina at the 2024 trade deadline. Marner reportedly turning down a trade to the Hurricanes is obviously not a good thing; however, he did just have a newborn baby at the time and was committed to finally winning in Toronto.
Utah Mammoth +1000
The Mammoth are in a comparable boat to the Ducks in being a team that is well-situated for the future but not yet a true contender while having the cap space to be able to table one of the highest offers. Whether or not Marner is interested in living in Salt Lake City is tough to decipher, but in just one season, owner Ryan Smith has quickly changed the perception of the organization from a player’s perspective, and perhaps Marner would be interested in the change of pace.
Florida Panthers +1000
Oddsmakers believe that Toronto’s Atlantic Division rival, which eliminated Marner and the Leafs in two of the last three playoffs, is exactly as likely as the Leafs are to roster Marner next season.
The Panthers would need to send away one key piece and let Sam Bennett walk away to fit in Marner’s expected salary. It’s quite possible that Marner would be willing to take a more significant pay cut to play for the Panthers than any other team, though, given their recent success, state-tax rules, and year-round sunshine.
Best Bet
This will be an interesting market to keep an eye on if more legitimate reports surrounding Marner’s potential interests start to emerge. It’s entirely reasonable to believe that close to half the league will reach out to Marner’s camp and gauge interest, which is leading to some long numbers in the betting market.
At the time of writing, backing the Kings to land Marner at +640 looks to present the most value. They are set to be a legitimate contender for several more years, and have the cap space to offer a hefty deal with a GM reportedly ready to be aggressive this offseason.
Los Angeles is a desirable place to play, and the current team dynamic is reportedly good. Given the long price tag, there looks to be value in backing Marner to land with the Kings this offseason.
